#1 Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins

Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins Book Cover

At the top of my TBR for summer is this tension packed story that follows a group of six twentysomethings who set out on an adventure, but soon realize they have been cut off from civilization. Stuck on an isolated Pacific island with a mysterious history of shipwrecks, cannibalism, and even rumors of murder, secrets are bound to be revealed and tear the group a part.

#2 Happy Place by Emily Henry

This booktok fan favorite is the perfect beach read. Following a couple who broke up, the pair pretends to be together to get through the annual week long vacation with their best friends. But, just how far will the pair go to make their friends happy?

#3 Every Summer After by Carley Fortune

As one of my favorite summer reads from 2023, I can say this book will make you feel nostalgic for memories you never even had.

"I loved you."
"I know."
"You broke my heart."
"I know that too."

If you’re looking for a book with friends-to-lovers, lake house romance, and addicting short chapters, then this is the perfect pool-side book for you!

#4 Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez

Released April 2 this year, this book has already become a staple for summer.

Justin and Emma both believe that they are cursed because everyone they date finds their one true love after a break up. So when Justin posts a “Am I the Asshole?” post on Reddit about his problem, Emma DM’s him and they decide that maybe if they dated each other and break up, their curses will cancel each other’s out. It’s only supposed to last for the summer, but how long will it take for them to catch feelings?

#5 Lies and Weddings by Kevin Kwan

The author of Crazy Rich Asians is said to have done it again with this entertaining and rather dishy book.

Without giving too much away, this book follows a family affair from Hawaii to Venice to Los Angeles to the English countryside.

Can the once-great dukedom rise from the ashes? Or will a secret tragedy, hidden for two decades, reveal a shocking twist?
